People in my church think its not a real illness. I just dont know how to manage my ups and downs. I was even told today by a deacon to stop taking the drugs. What’s the worse that can happen. They want me to read a book called good mood, bad mood. Im giving up on people in church believing in it and understanding. Im done

I was just recently hospitalized for my second time after I had unfortunately been convinced to stop one of my medications. I was suicidal and am not struggling to get back to a normal life. My job seems too much for me and I don’t make much to begin with. I never did any schooling either. I’m a single mom, looking for help. I begin a partial hospitalization program this next week as I feel like I wasn’t fully aware of many of the things I was doing and eating that were negatively affecting me and my sleep. Maintaining daily living is difficult. I’m praying for guidance in the program I will be attending. I thank you for your honesty.

I have mainly dealt with bouts of depression. My manic episodes were never too out of hand and didn’t last long until about a month ago possibly caused by me weaning off antidepressants I had been on for 15 yrs. I thought I was having encounter with God but became clear it wasn’t when it started to scare some people. I’m really having hard time moving forward from all this. Has my whole faith journey been a serious of manic episodes and not encounters with God? How do you develop a relationship with Jesus if you’re afraid it’s going to end up in manic episode? I have sought professional help but unable to get in for another couple weeks. Also I don’t feel stable enough to work and don’t know how to quit my job without having serious repercussions to my resume because I don’t think I’m able to give them 2 weeks. I’m a physical therapist assistant and don’t trust myself to make decisions regarding someone else’s care.

I have GAD and depression and hate these periods of depression. I love and hate the other me- the energetic, dazzling person that I am. Well, i’m now looking at a reframing of my diagnosis- i seem to be in the bipolar II spectrum and am filling out a diary and chart.
Thank you for your article. I shall check out your blog ‘Rough edges’.
