Did you mean to say …., no matter if a person wants to attend a Harvest Festival, pass out or receive candy, or even abstain from Halloween altogether, he key is to do so in a way that reflects your relationship with Christ because God judges our heart posture at the end of the day.
The Harvest Festival seems out of context to me . But does not detract really.
As for your fear reference and citing Proverbs 2: 12-14 a timely reminder for myself as to how a :harmless’ bit of fun can be twisted. into. Many X Box and other types of games can reward you for evil deeds and it nags at me that Halloween with Trick or Treat can be seen in two ways. One People can show love by giving sweets (candy) and ooh and ahh over great costumes. But on the other are we celebrating Evil? The Trick?
I think the Church has always struggled with incorporating the pagan into some form of accommodation. Indeed on All Saints day in medieval times I believe people would attend church wearing fancy dress depicting Good and evil. In the end the church will never be able to stop people dressing up.
